Pony Party
Pony Party was started by two mum's who realised while their kids were very fortunate to have access to their own ponies other s were 't so fortunate.
This became obvious when my daughter would come home from school and ask if her new best friend could come down and ride her little pony one day this week!
Soon everyone (or so it seemed) at her school had been her best friend and had been down for a ride. Followed up shortly after by a phone call from Mrs Whatshername asking if young Mary could come for riding lessons.
So on my youngest daughters birthday it seemed natural to have a party based around her ponies and her friends.... and WOW what a hit that turned out to be!
Soon afterwards kids where asking if we could do it again... sooon!
That's when it hit me, most children love ponies but most just don't get the chance to be around them, petting them and brushing them.. let aloan riding them. Being brought up and living around horses all my life i'd just never stopped to think how lucky i'd been and now how lucky my children were. So i had the idea of Pony Parties as a way to bring children and ponies together in safe environment. All i had to do now was convince my best friend - who happened to be a riding instructor ;-) - to help out. To be honest, because she'd ran her own riding school, and so she'd seen first hand how horses and ponies can really bring out the best in kids even those with learning difficulties, she didn't take much persuading... so there it was Pony Party was born.
And although it can be very hard work for all involved it is sooo rewarding to see the kid's having such a great time, to see those excited happy and smiling' faces is an indescribable feeling. Topped off by that feeling of appreciation when the parents write and thank you for making it the best birthday present ever!
